Now let’s be honest, food is not fuel, it’s tasty…
And this is the mindset behind my relationship with food! As I mention in my intro post, I am overweight and I struggle with body image. The majority of us would be lying if we said we wouldn’t trade ours in for a healthier (not skinnier) model; but sadly, it’s not that easy.
Being veggie, which I’m sure I’ll do a separate post on, I’m very aware of what nutrients and vitamins are going into my body. I need to be aware of my protein intake along with a bunch of other things meat eaters don’t typically need to worry about.
I enjoy a bit of cooking and I’m not too bad at it, I’m not getting my calculator out… but I have educated myself on which veggies, pulses, beans etc have the best protein quality and tried all sorts of meat replacements to ensure my body gets what it needs.
So why, I ask you, when I am poorly and in most need of those extra vitamins and minerals to give my immune system a boost, have I ordered myself this?

Because I want to… An unpopular opinion among the fat shamers (like they’ve never had a takeaway in their life). But you know what, this plate of food right now is what is making me (mentally) feel a little better. And tomorrow, I will cook, maybe even tonight. But for now I am tucking into this calorific meal and I will enjoy it without guilt.
Just a bit of ‘no frills’ ranting 🤠Keeping it honest, before I get my energy back and start taking pictures of my healthy home cooked meals. I’m not sure if there is an equivalent tag for bloggers, but #instavsreality!
